The Future Is Here: Google Search Live Makes Voice Search Seamless in AI Mode

Google has officially launched Search Live, a new voice-first experience within AI Mode on the Google app for Android and iOS. This feature allows users to engage in natural, real-time conversations with Google Search using their voice—perfect for multitasking or when typing isn’t convenient.

How to Access Google Search Live option

Once enrolled in the AI Mode Labs experiment, users can tap the new “Live” icon to start a conversation. Ask a question like “How do I keep a linen dress from wrinkling in a suitcase?” and you’ll hear an AI-generated audio response, along with helpful web links displayed on-screen. You can follow up with related questions without restarting the search.

Search Live also includes a transcript mode, letting users switch between voice and text seamlessly. All conversations are saved in the AI Mode history, so you can revisit them anytime.

Under the hood, Search Live is powered by a custom version of Gemini, Google’s advanced AI model, and uses a query fan-out technique to surface a broader range of high-quality web content. It’s designed to work in the background, so you can continue chatting with Search even while using other apps.

Looking ahead, Google plans to introduce camera-based interactions, allowing users to show what they’re seeing and receive contextual responses in real time—ushering in a new era of multimodal, conversational search.
